The Truth About Spray Tanning

Clearly getting a spray tan is healthier than exposing your skin to harmful UV rays from the sun, but I have always wondered what kinds of chemicals are included in these tanning mixtures. I've ready articles about the weird ingredients used in make up (such as whale vomit) and I always imagined that the tanning solutions that people use at their neighborhood tanning salons could not be all that healthy either.

While visiting a friend in the hospital I came across the June 2011 issue of Allure magazine. This magazine happened to have an extensive section about the top places to get spray tanned in the country. Reading this article started a series of events that lead to me receiving the best spray tan ever, and also an education on the on the components in tanning solutions. I went to Suvara at Senses Spa and had Kristyn Pradas (who is featured as the top tanner in NYC and also pictured to the right). She had impeccable professionalism and an eye for detail. She told me about Suvara's all natural solutions that contain tons of antioxidants and moisturizers that rejuvenate your skin. The tan was $95 but well worth the price. When I followed Ms. Pradas' directions, my tan lasted for well over a week, streak free and gorgeous. I had no problem handing over $95 to not only look great, I also felt great knowing that getting this specific tanning formula was a beauty treatment in itself. Not all tanning salons and spas offer this all natural solution so I highly recommened asking questions and make sure you are getting the best tan for your dollar. When in doubt seek out Kristyn Pradas at Senses Spa, 138 Fifth Ave. NY,NY, 212-242-7979.

Kristyn Pradas as been featured for her talent as the number one spray tanner in multiple top magazines such as Self, Allure June 2011, and Allure July 2011. Pradas also has helped Cosmopolitan Photo shoots and The Fairfield County Magazine.
